A self-tensioning wire skeleton wrapped in translucent skin — a pendant that glows like a cocoon and floats as if weightless.
Inspired by an iconic 1952 design, the Nelson Bubble Pendant is built around a lightweight steel wireframe that holds its distinctive silhouette under natural tension. A network of interconnected wires forms the signature crisscross pattern, wrapped in a soft, translucent covering that emits an organic, evenly diffused glow. Offered in seven sculptural shapes and nine size variants, it scales from a single statement piece to layered clustered installations — from dining tables to stairwells to hospitality spaces.

- Hardwired ceiling installation — a licensed electrician is recommended for safe mounting, wiring, and grounding.
- Flat ceilings only. The ceiling rose requires a level mounting plane — sloped or vaulted ceilings are not compatible without a specialised adapter (not included).
- The standard suspension cable is 150 cm (59″) long. Longer or shorter drops can be supplied on request — ideal for stairwells, double-height rooms, or low-ceiling installations.
- Install an E26 or E27 bulb (sold separately). A warm white LED bulb (2700K–3000K) gives the most flattering, honeyed glow through the silk shade. Low-wattage LEDs (5–8 W) are recommended to keep heat output low on the silk skin.
- For dimming, pair a dimmable LED bulb with a compatible TRIAC dimmer switch.
- Handle the shade with clean, dry hands during installation — avoid pressing on or denting the silk skin, as the wire tension gives the silhouette its shape.

Steel bends.
Silk settles.
Light glows.
Six silhouettes, one construction: bare wire spun into shape, wrapped in a single length of silk fiber, cured until it holds its own light.

See the shape catch the light
One wire, wound by hand
There's no mold in this collection, and no two shades come out quite the same. A shape starts as bare wire and ends as something that holds light like paper holds ink — soft at the edges, structured underneath.
It's the same logic mid-century designers reached for: let the material do the work, and don't hide how a thing is made. What you see on the outside is what's actually holding it up.
The winding is where the hand shows. That's the part we didn't try to make perfect.
From wire to warm light — four steps
Spin the frame
Bare steel wire, spun on a jig until it locks into the shape's exact curve — no mold, no shortcuts.
Wind the fiber
A single length of silk-fiber cord, wound over the frame edge to edge in one unbroken pass by hand.
Cure the skin
Heat sets the wound fiber into a firm, self-supporting shell — it holds its shape with the frame removed.
Fit and finish
Socket, canopy, and hardware go on by hand, then every shade is checked for an even glow.
What it's made of
A steel wire frame wrapped in a single length of silk-fiber cord, cured into a firm shell that holds its own shape. Canopy and hardware finished in matte black or brushed brass.
Works with any standard dimmer switch. Built for indoor use only.
Keeping it right
- Dust with a soft, dry brush or a hair dryer set to cool — skip the damp cloth.
- Keep it away from moisture and high humidity.
- Stay at or under the rated wattage to protect the fiber shell.
- Carry it by the frame, never by the shell itself.

A shape from 1952
Back in 1952, this shape got its glow from a plastic webbing sprayed straight onto a wire frame — a fast process built for a soft, even light. We kept the wire, but swapped the spray for something slower: mulberry silk fiber, wound by hand. Same silhouette, same idea, just a warmer surface under your hand and a longer process behind it.
Six shapes, one language
Nelson Bubble Pendant Lamp A
Wide and low — this shape spreads a soft, even wash of light across whatever sits below it.
Nelson Bubble Pendant Lamp B
Taller and narrower, with a lower drop — reads well over a staircase or a narrow dining table.
Nelson Bubble Pendant Lamp C
A true sphere — light spreads evenly no matter which side of the room you're standing in.
Taraxacum Suspension Lamp
Several arms of wire and fiber radiating from one core — the largest, most sculptural piece in the collection.
Nelson Wall Sconce
The same wire-and-silk build, flattened against a back plate — made for hallways and tighter walls.
Nelson Table Lamp
The same shade set on a slim tripod base — sized for a console table or a nightstand.
Before you order
What's the silk-fiber shell actually made of?
A single length of fiber cord, wound over a steel wire frame and cured into a firm, self-supporting shell — the same idea as the mid-century originals, built with a more durable fiber blend.
Is it dimmable?
Yes — any standard dimmer switch works. A warm-dim LED bulb will keep the shell's color true at low output.
How is Pendant A different from B and C?
Same build, three profiles: A is wide and low (Saucer), B is taller and narrower (Ellipse), C is a true sphere (Ball). Pick based on how much spread you want and how much ceiling height you're working with.
Can it hang outdoors or in a bathroom?
No — this collection is built for indoor, dry-location use only. The fiber shell isn't sealed against moisture.
