Hey there! Have you ever looked at a piece of decor in your house and wondered, "How did they actually come up with that?"
At Rayonshine, we believe every good light fixture has a great story behind it. Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our favorite beaded beauties—the Rosalind Beaded Pendant Light and the Thora Beaded Fringe Table Lamp. Grab a cup of coffee, and let’s dive into how this collection went from a random spark of inspiration to the gorgeous statement piece glowing in your living room.
1. The "Aha!" Moment: Where the Vibe Started
So, where did the idea actually come from? Honestly, it was all about capturing that vintage, Roaring Twenties energy but giving it a relaxed, boho-chic twist.
Our designer was flipping through old photographs and got completely obsessed with vintage flapper dresses. You know the ones—where the beaded fringe moves and catches the light with every step. We wanted to bottle up that exact feeling of breezy, elegant movement and bring it into modern home decor. The goal was to mix cold, hard metals with soft, cascading beads to create something that feels totally alive.
2. Putting Pen to Paper: The First Sketches
Before we ever touch a computer, we always start old-school. The moment inspiration hit, our designer grabbed a sketchbook and just started doodling.
This stage is raw, messy, and all about playing with proportions. How long should the fringe on the Thora lamp drape? How do we make the Rosalind pendant look full and lush without it looking too heavy or cluttered? It takes a lot of erasing, tweaking, and redrawing until the balance of the metal frame and the beads looks just right on paper.
3. Bringing It to Life in 3D
Next up, we take those pencil sketches and bring them into the digital world. This is where the magic really starts taking shape and the math comes in.
By building a 3D model on the computer, we can figure out all the nitty-gritty details. Our designers test out different bead materials and use software to simulate how a lightbulb will actually shine through them. We also calculate the structural support to make sure the Rosalind pendant hangs perfectly straight. It’s all about making sure the light cuts through the beads to create a warm, dappled glow, rather than throwing harsh shadows on your walls.
4. Crafted by Hand: The Magic of Our Makers
Once the 3D models are a go, we hand the blueprints over to our incredible craftsmen. This is easily the most time-consuming—and impressive—part of the whole process.
-
Stringing the Beads: Every single bead on the Rosalind and Thora lamps is strung by hand. Our makers have the patience of saints, carefully threading and securing hundreds of beads to make sure the fringe falls flawlessly.
-
Metal Finishing: While the beads are being strung, the metal frames are cut, welded, and treated with a special finish to give them that high-quality, slightly vintage look.
-
The Final Polish: Finally, the pieces are wired, assembled, and put through strict quality and safety tests. We want to make sure that by the time you open the box, you’re getting a perfect piece of art.
5. Styling Your Space: Where Do They Belong?
Because this collection has such a cozy, vintage-meets-modern vibe, these lamps are surprisingly versatile. Here are our favorite ways to style them:
-
Hanging the Rosalind Pendant over your dining area instantly glams up dinner time. The way the light filters through the beads creates the absolute dreamiest, most romantic ambiance.
