Three-Arm

Floor Luminaire · 1952 Design by Mouille
01 Overview A 1952 Silhouette, Standing Freely

A kinetic, sculptural floor lamp — three independently rotating arms, each ending in a quiet, directional diffuser. Sculpture first, light source second.

The Three-Arm Floor Lamp, designed by Mouille in 1952, is a quietly confident response to what he saw as overly complex contemporary Italian lighting: restraint, geometry, and honest hardware in place of ornament. Three angular steel arms rotate independently from a central pivot, allowing each conical diffuser to be aimed exactly where light is needed. The piece is at once a sculpture, a room-anchor, and a precisely adjustable lighting tool — ideal for expansive rooms, generous reading corners, and gallery-like interiors.

02 Signature Details Five Hallmarks
Detail 01
Independently Rotating Arms
Each of the three arms pivots independently from a central joint — aim each conical diffuser at a different corner of the room, a reading chair, or a display wall. The signature functional feature of the floor lamp over its ceiling sibling.
Detail 02
Arm-to-Diffuser Joint
The precisely machined pivot where each steel arm meets its conical diffuser — a signature connection that defines the lamp's reaching, organic geometry and sets each shade at a controlled angle.
Detail 03
Washer & Hexagonal Screw
Fully visible six-sided screw hardware paired with a washer at every junction — an honest, machined detail borrowed directly from the industrial vocabulary of the 1952 original.
Detail 04
Reflector Form
Elongated conical reflectors deliver soft, directional light while showing a quietly graphic silhouette — functional and sculptural at once, legible from any angle in the room.
Detail 05
Refined Steel & Brass
Slender tubular arms with consistent diameter, anchored by brass ball joints at each pivot. Brass is the piece's only applied warmth against otherwise cool matte-black metal — and will patinate softly with time.

Bulbs3 × E26/E27
Best forGreat room · gallery
A note on the Three-Head configuration. At Dia 145cm (57.1") across and H 210cm (6 ft 11 in) tall, the Three-Head Floor Lamp is a room-anchoring architectural piece. The arms span nearly five feet in diameter — ensure you have at least 2 m (6.5 ft) of floor clearance on the arm side, and a ceiling of at least 2.4 m (8 ft). Best suited to great rooms, generous living spaces, gallery corners, and loft-scale interiors.
04 Materials & Craft Three Pillars
Lacquered Aluminium
Reflectors and body finished in durable matte black lacquer, giving the piece its graphic silhouette against any interior — a clean, architectural base tone that lets the hardware details speak.
Steel Tubes
Slender, consistent-diameter steel arms carry the electrical and structural load. Refined, unornamented, and allowed to speak purely through geometry — the signature of the design language.
Brass Ball Joints
Warm brass spheres anchor each pivot point — the piece's only applied warmth against otherwise cool matte-black metal. Brass patinates subtly over time, deepening with age.

07 Installation Setup Notes
  • Unbox carefully. The lamp ships disassembled in a compact box (L 79 × W 51 × H 32 cm). Follow the included Assembly Instructions for correct orientation — the Three-Head version, in particular, requires care in aligning the arms around the central joint.
  • Watch the assembly videos. We recommend watching the Installation video and, for the 3-head version, the 3-Head Assembly video before starting.
  • Place the base on a flat, stable surface. Allow clearance behind the lamp for the cord to run cleanly to the wall outlet.
  • Install bulbs: 1 bulb for the Single Head, or 3 bulbs for the Three Head (sold separately). Use E26 or E27 base bulbs — a warm white LED (2700K–3000K, 5–8 W) gives the most flattering glow through the reflectors.
  • Plug into a standard wall outlet. The 150 cm cord includes an inline on/off switch positioned along the cord. The lamp ships with your chosen regional plug (US, UK, AU, or EU) — specify at checkout so it arrives ready for your local outlet.
  • Position the arms. Each arm rotates independently at the central pivot. Gently pivot each arm to aim its reflector where you want the light — over a reading chair, across a wall, toward a display. Finger-tighten rather than forcing.
  • For the Three-Head version, ensure you have at least 2 m (6.5 ft) of floor clearance on the arm side of the base to allow for full rotation without hitting furniture or walls.
08 Questions Frequently Asked
Which plug type should I choose?
Please choose the plug type that matches your local outlets at checkout: US plug (North America, Japan), UK plug (United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore), AU plug (Australia, New Zealand, China), or EU plug (most of continental Europe). The lamp itself supports full-range AC 110–240V, so only the plug shape needs to match — no transformer is required.
Do the arms really rotate independently?
Yes — this is the signature functional feature of the floor lamp. Each of the three arms pivots independently at the central joint, so you can aim each conical reflector at a different target in the room. Finger-tighten each arm in its chosen position; forcing a stiff joint can damage the hardware.
Are bulbs included?
No. Bulbs are sold separately. The Single Head takes 1 bulb and the Three Head takes 3 bulbs, both using standard E26 or E27 base. We recommend warm white dimmable LEDs (2700K–3000K, 5–8 W) for the most flattering glow and lowest heat output.
Which should I choose — Single Head or Three Head?
The Single Head (Dia 45cm x H 160cm) is a compact, arm-reaching reading lamp — ideal next to a sofa, armchair, or sitting-room corner. The Three Head (Dia 145cm x H 210cm) is a statement architectural piece — spanning nearly 5 feet across and nearly 7 feet tall, anchoring a great room or gallery. Please check your floor-space and ceiling clearance before choosing the Three Head.
How much space does the Three-Head version need?
Allow a minimum of 2 m (6.5 ft) of clear floor space on the arm side of the base so the arms can rotate freely without hitting furniture. Ceiling should be at least 2.4 m (8 ft) — ideally higher — so the lamp's 2.1 m height reads as a sculpture, not as a column pressed against the ceiling. Best suited to great rooms, open-plan living, gallery corners, and loft-scale interiors.
Is the lamp dimmable?
The lamp itself has a simple inline on/off switch. To dim the light, install dimmable LED bulbs and plug the lamp into a wall outlet controlled by a compatible dimmer switch. The lamp does not have a built-in dimmer.
Can I use it on both 110V and 220V circuits?
Yes. The lamp supports full-range AC 110–240V and is certified for use in North America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East — no additional transformer required. Just pair it with bulbs rated for your local voltage.
Will the brass ball joints tarnish over time?
The brass joints develop a subtle, natural patina with time — a gentle deepening of tone that many owners prefer as part of the piece's character. To slow patination, wipe the joints with a dry soft cloth; to maintain the original bright finish, a non-abrasive brass polish can be used sparingly. Never use household cleaners on the lacquered arms and diffusers.
Can I place the lamp on carpet or a rug?
Yes, both configurations are designed for use on hard floors or carpet. On deep-pile carpet, place the base on a flat hard protector (a felt pad or a thin sheet of acrylic) if needed to keep the base perfectly level — the Three-Head version in particular is tall and benefits from a stable, level foundation.
Can I install it in a bathroom or outdoors?
No. This lamp is for dry indoor use only. Keep it away from moisture, steam, and direct heat sources — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, covered porches, or any outdoor environment.
How do I clean the lamp?
With the power off, dust the arms, diffusers, and base gently with a soft dry microfiber cloth. For the lacquered surfaces, avoid household cleaners, solvents, and abrasives — they can damage the finish. For the brass joints, a dry soft cloth is sufficient; a mild brass polish can be applied sparingly if a brighter finish is desired.

The idea

Light, drawn rather than hung.

Not just illuminating a room, but sculpting it. Every single angle is a masterpiece.

02Principles

4 Reasons You'll Love This Light

01

Directional light

Each shade pivots to aim a soft, focused pool of light exactly where it is needed — task, accent, or wash.

02

Articulated & adjustable

Jointed arms rotate and reposition, so a single fixture adapts to many rooms, walls, and moods.

03

Sculptural silhouette

Slender black arms and organic shades read as a piece of art, even when the light is off.

04

Made to last

Hand-welded joints, balanced counterweights, and a matte finish built for decades of daily use.

03The articulated system

One fixture, three directions

  1. 01

    Steel Rod Forming

Solid steel rod is measured, cut, and bent into the long, tapering arms that define the silhouette.

  2. 02

    Joints & Welding

Pivots and counterweights are welded in place, giving each arm a smooth, deliberate range of motion.

  3. 03

    Shaping the Shade

The organic diffuser is spun and trued so light gathers and throws in one clean direction.

  4. 04

    Matte-Black Finish

Frame and shade exterior are finished in deep matte black; the inner shade stays pale to warm the glow.

  5. 05

    Balanced & Assembled

Each piece is assembled, wired, and hand-balanced so every joint holds its pose without drifting.
