A plug-in wall sconce with five stacked walnut spheres and a veined travertine shade, 14 inches (36 cm) tall. Casts warm ambient light without harsh glare, ideal for reading or as bedside task lighting. Install within 6 feet of an outlet; not compatible with dimmer switches.

Can I use this as a plug in wall sconce?
Yes. It's hardwired to a standard household outlet and controlled by the outlet switch. No batteries or rechargeable option.
Do I need to buy a bulb separately?
Yes. Buy any E26 or E27 base bulb separately. We recommend warm white LED (2700K) for bedside reading.
Will the travertine shade pattern match the photos?
No. Natural stone veining is unique to each shade. Your fixture will have similar character but different markings than shown.
Can I install this with a dimmer?
No. This sconce works only with standard on-off switches, not dimmers.

Stone thatholds the light
Travertine is a limestone laid down by mineral springs, layer over layer, with gas bubbles trapped inside. We cut it, shape it by hand and leave those pores open, so every lamp carries the record of how its stone was made.

From block to lamp
Every piece in the series goes through the same four stages in the workshop.
01Choosing the block
Blocks are sorted by tone and pore density. Stone with deep cracks or large voids is set aside, since it can't hold a thin wall.
02Cutting
Water-cooled saws cut each block into slabs, discs and cylinders. The direction of the cut decides whether the shade shows stripes or clouds.
03Shaping by hand
Shades are turned, carved and drilled one at a time. Edges are rounded off by hand so the stone feels soft, not sharp.
04Finishing and fitting
Surfaces are ground smooth and polished, with the pores left open. Each shade is then fitted with its hardware and lit before it ships.

Travertine forms in horizontal bands. Cut across them or along them, and the same block gives two completely different surfaces.

A fold cut into solid stone. On Kennett, the bulb hides behind a carved flap, so light spills down the wall with no visible source.
Carved ribs. Candeeiro's rippled body, shaped by hand.

Bored from solid. The socket sits inside the stone itself.
Stone and wood. A walnut-color sphere caps Herda.

What natural stone means for you
