Table Luminaire · Travertine & Aluminium
01 Overview A Stone, Reversed Upward

A raw travertine cone, left as nature formed it — crowned by a curved bronzed aluminium shade. A 1970s Italian idea, made for a quiet bedside.

The Reverse Table Lamp draws its inspiration from the marble-and-travertine table culture of 1970s Italy — pieces that celebrated natural material alongside pure geometry. A conical base of yellow travertine — left raw to reveal the stone's natural textures, pores, and colour variations — pairs with a curved aluminium shade, creating a grounded, softly balanced object. The diffused light warms the stone, drawing out its unique character, and making Reverse an elegant choice for a bedside table, a cabinet-top, or a considered console.

Nature's Signature

A masterpiece of geological time — not a controlled product.

Yellow travertine is formed over millennia in the natural environment, through complex physical and chemical processes shaped by geological movement. Each slab carries its own vein pattern, colour variation, and surface imperfection — no two travertine bases are identical. These natural characteristics are the stone's signature, not a defect, and are intrinsic to the design. The lamp you receive will be subtly different from the photography, in ways only nature can author.

05 Materials & Craft Three Pillars
Conical Travertine Base
The base is shaped from a single block of yellow travertine — cone-cut, then left in its raw natural state. Honest stone, carrying its own geological fingerprint.
Curved Aluminium Shade
A curved aluminium shade — available in matt black, white, or bronze — diffuses the bulb into a warm, directional glow that highlights the travertine's texture.
G9 Light Source
A compact G9 pin-base socket (bulb sold separately). Widely available in dimmable LED options for flexible, low-heat interior use.

A natural material. Because travertine is a natural stone, each base is unique — vein patterns, colour variation, and surface imperfections are part of the character. Indoor use only; keep away from moisture and direct heat.
08 Installation Setup Notes
  • Unbox with care. Travertine is heavy (3.2 kg for the Small, 5.5 kg for the Large) — handle with both hands and lift from the base, not from the shade.
  • Place on a flat, stable, clean surface. We recommend using a small felt pad or coaster between the stone and delicate wood surfaces to prevent marking.
  • Install a G9 pin-base bulb (sold separately). A warm white dimmable LED G9 (2700K–3000K, 3–5W) is recommended for the most flattering glow across the travertine and the lowest heat output.
  • Plug into a standard wall outlet. The 150 cm cord includes an inline on/off switch, positioned along the cord for easy reach from a bedside or sitting chair.
  • When replacing the bulb, unplug the lamp and let it cool. G9 bulbs are small and run warm — handle by the pin base, not the glass.
09 Questions Frequently Asked
Why does my travertine base look different from the photos?
Because it's natural stone. Travertine is formed by geological processes over millennia — every slab carries its own unique vein pattern, colour variation, and subtle surface imperfections. The photography on this page shows a representative example; the lamp you receive will be related but subtly individual. This natural variation is central to the design and is not considered a defect.
What is yellow travertine?
Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, traditionally quarried in Italy and used in Roman architecture and 20th-century Italian furniture design. The "yellow" variety is named for its warm, honey-toned background colour, often streaked with cream, ochre, and occasional grey veins. It's a porous, natural stone — left raw here to preserve its texture rather than polished to a mirror finish.
Which shade colour should I choose?
Matt Black gives the most graphic, architectural contrast against the warm stone — modern and confident. White is the most neutral — lets the travertine itself lead, disappearing gently into pale interiors. Bronze is the warmest and most period-appropriate choice — pairs with the 1970s Italian origin of the design and works beautifully with brass, walnut, and other warm hardware.
Which size should I choose?
The Small (Ø 24 × H 30 cm, 3.2 kg) is ideal for a bedside table, small cabinet top, or paired next to a reading chair. The Large (Ø 35 × H 43 cm, 5.5 kg) is a more confident piece — best on a console, sideboard, entry table, or a wider bedside in a larger bedroom. The Large is substantially heavier and more visually prominent.
Is a bulb included?
No. The Reverse takes a G9 pin-base bulb, sold separately. We recommend a warm white dimmable LED G9 (2700K–3000K, 3–5W) for the softest glow across the stone and low heat near the socket.
What's a G9 bulb — will I find it easily?
G9 is a compact pin-base socket widely used in modern decorative lighting. Available at any lighting retailer, hardware store, or online marketplace — look for G9 LED (not older halogen) for lower heat, longer lifespan, and dimmable warm-white options.
Is the Reverse dimmable?
The lamp itself has a simple inline on/off switch. To dim the light, install a dimmable G9 LED bulb and plug the lamp into a wall outlet controlled by a compatible dimmer switch. The lamp does not have a built-in dimmer.
Can I use it on both 110V and 220V circuits?
Yes. The Reverse supports full-range AC 110–240V and is certified for use in North America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East — no additional transformer required. Just pair it with a G9 bulb rated for your local voltage.
Can I install it in a bathroom?
No. The Reverse is for dry indoor use only. Travertine is a porous natural stone and is sensitive to prolonged moisture exposure — avoid bathrooms, wet rooms, kitchens with high steam, and any outdoor installation. Also keep the stone away from direct heat sources and heavy water spills.
How do I clean the travertine?
Wipe gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. For more substantial marks, use a barely damp cloth (water only, or a drop of pH-neutral soap) and dry immediately. Never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, lemon, commercial bathroom cleaners) — they will etch the stone. Avoid soaking, and wipe up any spills (especially wine, coffee, or oil) immediately, as travertine is porous and can stain.
