The name draws the lamp — two soft Os stacked, one cradling the light, the other holding the body. Rough by hand, gentle in glow.
Oo Rough is an original table lamp from the First Hand collection, debuted at ICFF in 2018. A sculpted, hand-finished resin body — its surface intentionally tactile and slightly irregular, the "Rough" in its name — cradles a small, softly glowing white glass shade lit from within by a hidden G9 bulb. The result is quietly generous: graphic enough to anchor a console or bedside across the room, warm enough to dissolve into ambient evening light when switched on. Available in four hand-finished body colourways — White, Pink, Green, and Terra cotta — each marked "Original" because every piece carries the small variations of the hand that finished it.

Why "Original"? Each colourway is finished entirely by hand. The "Original" suffix marks each lamp as a singular object — colour depth, surface texture, and tactile feel are subtly individual to every piece, rather than mass-produced uniformity.

Rough is the point.
The body of the Oo wears a tactile, slightly irregular surface — the "Rough" of its name. It is not polished smooth, not glazed; the marks of the hand that finished it are visible to both eye and touch. Subtle variations in surface texture and colour depth between individual pieces are inherent to the First Hand process, not a defect. Each lamp is gently its own.
05 Materials & Craft Three Pillars
Sculpted Resin Body
The Oo's curved, ceramic-feel form is cast in durable resin and finished by hand. The resin gives the lamp its characteristic weight and stillness — it sits like a small piece of ceramic on the table, with none of the fragility of true ceramic.
White Glass Shade
A small, softly glowing white glass shade sits at the top — diffusing the G9 bulb into a gentle, even light with no visible filament or hot spot. Warm enough for evening reading, graphic enough to read as an object even when off.
G9 Light Source
A compact G9 pin-base socket (bulb sold separately). The G9 is small enough to hide entirely inside the glass shade — so what you see is the body and the diffused glow, never the bulb. Widely available in dimmable LED.

08 Installation Setup Notes
- Unbox carefully and place the Oo on a flat, stable surface — a bedside table, console, or desk. The resin body carries enough weight to sit securely without felt pads.
- Install a G9 pin-base bulb (sold separately). A warm white dimmable LED G9 (2700K–3000K, 3–5 W) is recommended for the most flattering glow through the white glass shade and the lowest heat output near the socket.
- Plug into a standard wall outlet. The 150 cm cord includes an inline on/off switch positioned along the cord — easy to reach without bending to the floor. The lamp ships with the regional plug you select at checkout (US, UK, AU, or EU).
- When replacing the bulb, unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool completely. G9 bulbs are small and run warm — always handle by the pin base, not the glass envelope.
- To dim, install a dimmable LED G9 bulb and plug into a wall outlet controlled by a TRIAC-compatible dimmer switch.
