Q: Which size should I choose?

It depends on the room and ceiling. Ø 30–40 cm work as accent pieces or clusters; Ø 50–60 cm suit most dining tables, kitchen islands, and entry spaces; Ø 70–80 cm are statement pieces for large dining tables and open-plan rooms; Ø 100 cm is a dramatic architectural scale, best for stairwells, double-height entries, and hospitality spaces with ceilings of at least 3 m (10 ft).

The Wabi Sabi Pendant Lamp B is an atmospheric piece informed by the poetic, cloud-inspired pendant tradition and the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi — the appreciation of imperfect, transient, and understated beauty. Its soft, spherical form gently diffuses light, turning the ceiling above into a serene, overcast sky. Offered in three cloud-tone finishes (Grey, Beige, White) and seven sizes — from a modest Ø 30 cm accent to a dramatic Ø 100 cm statement — the lamp introduces a quiet, meditative atmosphere into interior spaces that value restraint, softness, and thoughtful design.

A note on the Ø 100 cm (the largest cloud). At approximately 15 kg — roughly three times the weight of the Ø 80 cm — the Ø 100 is a substantial architectural piece. It requires a reinforced ceiling junction box and a licensed electrician for installation. Best suited to stairwells, double-height entries, hospitality spaces, and rooms with ceilings of at least 3 m (10 ft).

High-Density Polystyrene

A lightweight, sculpted polystyrene body — shaped into the signature soft, cloud-like form. Rigid enough to hold its silhouette, light enough to feel weightless overhead.

Metal Hardware

Internal metal bracketry and ceiling rose provide the structural backbone — finished to match the shade tone so the installation reads as a single, considered object.

Diffused Glow

A single E26/E27 bulb (sold separately) casts through the polystyrene shade, producing a soft, evenly distributed glow — no harsh hotspots, no visible filament.

Indoor use only. Wabi Sabi is IP20-rated for dry interior environments — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, or outdoor installations. Keep the polystyrene shade away from direct heat sources and use a low-heat LED bulb to protect the material.

08 Installation Setup Notes

Hardwired ceiling installation — a licensed electrician is recommended for safe mounting, wiring, and grounding.
Confirm ceiling junction box capacity. The smaller sizes (Ø 30–60) mount to a standard junction box. The Ø 70–80 (5 kg) and especially the Ø 100 (15 kg) require a reinforced junction box rated for the weight — have your electrician verify before installation.
Flat ceilings only. The ceiling rose requires a level mounting plane — sloped or vaulted ceilings are not compatible without a specialised adapter (not included).
Standard cable length is 150 cm (59″). Custom drops can be specified when ordering — recommended for stairwells, high ceilings, and double-height rooms.
Install an E26 or E27 bulb (sold separately). A warm white LED bulb (2700K–3000K, 5–10W) gives the softest, most cloud-like glow and keeps heat output low on the polystyrene shade.
For dimming, pair a dimmable LED bulb with a TRIAC-compatible dimmer switch on the wall circuit.
Handle the shade gently during installation — polystyrene is lightweight but can be scuffed. Use clean, dry hands and avoid pressing firmly on the surface.

Which size should I choose?

It depends on the room and ceiling. Ø 30–40 cm work as accent pieces or clusters; Ø 50–60 cm suit most dining tables, kitchen islands, and entry spaces; Ø 70–80 cm are statement pieces for large dining tables and open-plan rooms; Ø 100 cm is a dramatic architectural scale, best for stairwells, double-height entries, and hospitality spaces with ceilings of at least 3 m (10 ft).

Why is the Ø 100 so much heavier than the Ø 80?

At Ø 100 cm, the cloud's volume and surface area increase substantially, and the structural core has to be heavier to maintain the soft silhouette without deforming over time. The result is a leap from ~ 5 kg (Ø 80) to ~ 15 kg (Ø 100) — roughly three times the weight. This is why the Ø 100 requires a reinforced ceiling junction box and professional installation.

Are bulbs included?

No. Wabi Sabi takes a standard E26 or E27 screw-base bulb, sold separately. We recommend a warm white dimmable LED (2700K–3000K, 5–10W) for the softest, cloud-like glow and the lowest heat output on the polystyrene shade.

Is the lamp dimmable?

Yes. Wabi Sabi works with standard household switches and is compatible with dimmers. Install a dimmable LED bulb and pair it with a TRIAC-compatible dimmer switch. The lamp itself does not have a built-in dimmer. Dimming is particularly effective with the cloud — low dimmed warmth gives the ceiling a genuine dusk-sky atmosphere.

Can you make custom sizes or cable lengths?

Yes. Custom sizes outside the seven standard diameters can be produced on request — useful for atria, hospitality installations, or architectural commissions. Custom cable drop lengths are also available — please specify your preferred drop when ordering. For custom sizing, please share your target diameter, ceiling height, and intended space so we can advise on feasibility and lead time.

What is polystyrene — will it yellow or melt?

High-density polystyrene is a stable, lightweight material commonly used in architectural lighting and signage where a soft, cloud-like silhouette is required. It will not yellow under normal indoor light exposure and, when used with a standard low-heat LED bulb, will not deform or discolour. Avoid using high-wattage halogen or incandescent bulbs, as their heat output can damage the shade.

Can I install it on a sloped ceiling?

No. Wabi Sabi is designed for flat ceilings only. The ceiling rose requires a level mounting surface. For sloped installations, a specialised adapter would be required and is not included.

Can I install it in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. Wabi Sabi is IP20-rated for dry indoor use only — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, saunas, covered porches, or any outdoor environment. Polystyrene is also sensitive to direct sunlight and heavy moisture, so avoid installation in conservatories or skylit rooms with direct sun exposure.

Can I use it on both 110V and 220V circuits?

Yes. The lamp supports full-range AC 110–240V and is certified for North America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East — no additional transformer required. Pair it with a bulb rated for your local voltage.

How do I clean the cloud shade?

With the power off and the bulb cool, dust the shade gently with a soft dry brush or a feather duster — a camel-hair paintbrush works well. Avoid damp cloths, water, solvents, and cleaning sprays, as these can stain or damage the polystyrene surface. Handle the shade with clean, dry hands.
