Bedside & reading
Seated, the bottom of the shade should sit at about eye level so the bulb never shows. A pair on matching nightstands keeps the room symmetrical.

01Overview
Hot-blown glass sphere distorts into a mesmerizing mirror when off, glowing furnace when on.
Melt is a table light with a hand-melted glass sphere that sits 16.9 inches tall on a 11-inch-wide metal base—substantial enough to anchor a desk or nightstand. The glass shifts from mirror-smooth reflection to an amber glow that fills the room with warm, refracted light. Place it where you need task light but also want a sculptural object; check your bulb clearance in tight shelving.

Hot-blown glass sphere
Each sphere is hand-melted and distorted, so no two are identical. Reflects light as a mirror when off.
Metal base in three finishes
Rose Gold, Chrome, or Gold. Hollow cylinder houses the socket and holds the 150cm cord with in-line switch.
Switch options
Wire switch (in-cord) or light body switch (on the base itself). Light body switch costs $20 more.

08Questions
What is the shade made of?
The sphere is hand-melted glass, and the base is metal available in Rose Gold, Chrome, or Gold. Each glass sphere is unique because it's hand-distorted during the melt.
Can I dim this light?
Yes, triac dimming is available as a build option. Choose your dimmer switch type when you order.
Can I change the cord length?
The standard cord is 150cm (59 inches). We build to order, so a different length can be made to suit your space—just let us know what you need.
Will this work on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
This is a table light designed for a flat surface like a desk or nightstand, not a ceiling mount. If you need a custom suspension build instead, contact our support team at support@vakkerlight.com and tell us your space.
Does it run on US household power?
Yes. It accepts universal voltage (AC 110–240V) and comes with a universal plug adapter; just specify your country at checkout. The fixture takes any standard E26 or E27 bulb up to 60W.
Is it approved for US use and do you ship here?
Yes to both. We ship free to all 50 states. This fixture is certified for North America and complies with US electrical standards.
Rayonshine — Melt & Tessa Molten
Where glass
forgets its
own shape.
forgets its
own shape.
Hand-blown while still molten, each shade cools into a one-of-a-kind drip — sculpture first, light second.
The idea
"Not built, but poured — every shade is glass caught mid-slide, frozen the instant it fell, then left to cool exactly in that shape."
One
Hand-blown, never repeated
Each shade is shaped by a single glassblower while the glass is still workable — no mould, no two pieces identical.
- Individually hand-formed, not cast
- Natural variation is part of the design
Two
A glow with warmth built in
Amber-toned glass tints the light itself — even an ordinary bulb turns into a soft, honeyed wash rather than a harsh point of light.
- Softens light, doesn't just cover the source
- Flatters dark wood, leather, and brass
Three
Sculpture first, fixture second
Switched off, the melted silhouette still holds the room — it reads as a carefully chosen art object on a shelf or ceiling.
- Organic form, no hard edges
- Looks intentional day or night
Every bubble, on purpose
The trapped air and organic drip edge aren't flaws — they're proof the piece was shaped by hand, not a mould.
The process
From furnace to fixture
01GatheringMolten glass is gathered from the furnace.
02ShapingRotated and shaped while still soft.
03The dripGravity pulls the signature melted edge.
04AnnealingSlow-cooled over hours to prevent stress.
